The property
This small, picturesque Pennine market town sits in a unique location. Popular with tourists and residents alike, with a vibrant arts scene, as well as festivals held throughout the year, there is something for everybody to enjoy. But very few properties boast a position like Lynton House, which is essential for the discerning traveller. Lynton House is located on a quiet street with no through traffic. At the end of the street is the River Hebden and a small packhorse bridge which leads to woodland and riverside walks. On arrival, park off-road on your own small drive by the front door, secure in the knowledge that the parking space is yours for the entire stay. Enter the house through the front door and step into the centrally-heated, inviting living room that houses a Smart TV with Netflix, and an electric fire perfect for those chilly evenings. There is a kitchen/diner, complete with a ceramic hob, dishwasher, washer, fridge /freezer, plus a kettle and toaster. All essential kitchen and dining equipment is provided for those wishing to self-cater, though many guests prefer to sample the many eateries that are within easy walking distance. There are two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and a second with a double, both with ample storage and mirrors, whilst the bathroom comprises a bath with a shower over. At the front is a small south-facing garden and a driveway with picnic bench. When then weather permits it, enjoy a morning coffee in the sunshine whilst you watch the world go by. At the rear, a small, private patio with picnic table and chairs is also available, where an extending washing line is on-hand, should it be needed. In Hebden Bridge, you will find St George’s Square, and beyond that, the 500-year-old Packhorse Bridge, which gives the town it’s name. Be sure to stop by the many independent shops, pubs, real ale bars, restaurants and street cafes in Hebden Bridge, or even the open-air market, which runs from Thursday to Sunday. A pleasant stroll along the canal is also a must when you’re in town, with the waterway formerly used for transport and now home to a fleet of picturesque barges. For a relaxing evening, book tickets to enjoy a performance at The Picture House or the Little Theatre. For walkers there is spectacular scenery in all directions, with many hidden gems to discover. The National Trust owned Hardcastle Crags and Gibson Mill are worth a visit, especially when the Blue Pig pub is open. A brief car trip will bring you to Halifax, which boasts the Grade I listed property of Georgian Piece along with an array of independent shops, the Eureka! The National Children's Museum, and the free-to-visit Dean Clough art gallery. Shibden Hall, the home of Anne Lister, the Bankfield museum, and Cliffe Castle are all must-see attractions whilst you’re in town. Further afield, short drive across The Moors will take you to Haworth, which offers visitors a chance to stop by the Brontë Parsonage Museum. Close by you also hop on board the Keighley & Worth Valley Steam Train Railway. For a relaxing home-from-home, choose a stay at Lynton House.
