The property

Arisaig 1.8 miles. Creag Mhor Lodge is a cosy, single-storey timber lodge near Arisaig in Highland, within walking distance of beaches and village and with stunning sea and island views. Offering breathtaking sea views to the Small Isles and the Isle of Skye, off-road parking for two cars and welcoming one well-behaved dog, this lodge is perfect for families or friends seeking a serene escape. Park up the cars and walk up the steps to the decking of this timber-clad single-storey lodge. The wood-panelled walls throughout add a touch of rustic charm to the space, while the windows offer stunning views across the sea to the islands. Upon entering you will be greeted by the open-plan area, the heart of the home, boasting a well-equipped kitchen where you can prepare delicious meals on the electric cooker, to be enjoyed at the dining table, seating up to five people, then let the dishwasher take care of the washing-up. After dinner, retire to the sitting room, where you can sink into the inviting seating and enjoy a film on the Smart TV. As the evening draws to a close, find two welcoming bedrooms, a double (with King-size bed) and a family room with a bunk bed or a single bed to choose from, both offering a tranquil space to rest after a day of exploration. Feel the warmth of the underfloor heating in the bathroom as you take a dip in the bath or, if you want a speedy start to the day, utilise the shower before your day of adventures. A handy utility room houses a washer/dryer and small freezer, while a boot dryer ensures your walking boots are ready for your next adventure. Step outside to discover a well-maintained garden, complete with a lawn and decking area, where you can enjoy a morning coffee or an evening drink, soaking up the calm surroundings. Beyond the doorstep of Creag Mhor Lodge, adventure awaits. You are ideally situated to discover all that Arisaig and the surrounding areas have to offer. It’s possible to walk into the village for an evening meal at the pub or restaurant, to take a kayak adventure or a boat trip from the Marina. The village has a convenience store and cafes. There is a train service to Arisaig station (1.5 miles from the Lodge), with trains running from Mallaig to Fort William and beyond, and a local bus service a few times a day. Both Arisiag and nearby Mallaig have fascinating local museums. The Land, Sea and Islands Centre in Arisaig offers insights into the local history, including information and displays about the activities of the Special Operations Executive in World War 2, which used this area as a training ground and requisitioned a number of larger properties in the area, including Arisaig House, which became a Commando finishing school. The Heritage Centre in Mallaig tells the story of West Lochaber and the “Rough Bounds”, as the area is known, and how Mallaig became Europe’s premier herring fishing port. Pay a visit to the magnificent Glenfinnan Viaduct and experience a journey through time as you ride the iconic steam train, traversing the structure made famous in the Harry Potter films. Whilst there you can visit the Glenfinnan Monument, managed by the National Trust for Scotland, and discover history brought to life as you uncover tales of the 1745 Jacobite Rising. A 45 minute drive takes you to the 13th Century Castle Tioram, dramatically sited on its own tidal island and offering a glimpse of Scotland's storied past. From here you could go on to explore the remote Ardnamurchan peninsular and the U.K.’s most westerly lighthouse. Whisky connoisseurs mustn't miss an excursion to the Ardnamurchan Distillery, where you can indulge in the magic of the distillation process and sample the unique character of their single malts. End each day's explorations by returning to your idyllic home-from-home at Creag Mhor Lodge, the perfect retreat for your Highland adventure.
