The property

Resting about a mile away from the small village of Bettws Newydd in Monmouthshire, within the grounds of a rural country house, is this charming ground floor residence, recently converted from the old coachhouse stables.

The Old Stables of coachhouse at Trostrey Lodge gives a unique location in this demi country paradise for two people for anyone wanting to walk miles along the River Usk, up the nearby hills such as the Skirrid, Sugar Loaf or the highest, Pen-Y-Fan

You can visit five local castles: Skenfrith, Grosmont, Raglan, White Castle and Usk castle, we would also recommend the beautiful Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) for anyone walking.

Leave your vehicle along the main drive of Trostrey Lodge before going round the corner of the coachhouse to the stone fronted home and into the open plan living space.

There is up to the minute cooking on the electric oven, gas hob or microwave in the attractive kitchen with table, chairs, sofa and television.

During warmer weather there is a gravel and flagstone patio surrounded by a pretty cottage garden and rustic seating. The Usk Valley Footpath goes past, through the fields beyond.

The Old Stables are quiet, leafy and only the sound of the weir and birdsong.

In the evening a sumptuous comfortable double bed awaits. Excellent lighting for bedtime reading. The shower room is right opposite with a double size shower.

Get acquainted with your sublime surroundings. All footpaths are clearly marked along the river or climb up to the Clytha Folly, or even further into the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons), or just on the canal at Goytre Wharf.

Parking is under cover and adjacent. Two great pubs close by, each one is a mile distant: Black Bear excellent cuisine and Clytha Arms award winning cider and beer. NGS gardens is wonderful to visit or just enjoy the natural farm landscape of sheep in the fields and ancient oak trees.

Raglan is four miles away for provisions and Abergavenny is a charming market town with well known art shop and gallery also with sophisticated, inspired eating. So there is nothing much else needed to make your Welsh stay fantastic.
