Summary
The property is well-equipped, clean, and comfortable, offering a great location for exploring Pembrokeshire. Guests enjoyed spacious bedrooms, good bathrooms, and excellent kitchen facilities. However, waste management needs improvement. The log burner was not functional, which was disappointing for some.
The property
Nestled along the Pembrokeshire coast in the hamlet of Pen Y Cwm, near Solva and St David’s, is this well-presented, contemporary holiday home, Ty Rhosyn.
An ideal base for a family or group of friends looking for a coastal getaway to Wales. Enter into this lovely property, passing the shower room and utility area with a washing machine as you make your way towards the spacious kitchen, well-equipped with plenty of home-from-home amenities to assist you with cooking a heart-warming meal, which can be enjoyed at the dining table. As the day wears on, the delightful sitting room, well-appointed and furnished to a high standard, will take the weight from your feet to relax, books and games are provided. There is also a lovely patio, overlooking the adjacent field, so you and your four-legged family member can make the most of the sunshine. When sleep calls, freshen up in either the spacious ground-floor shower room or the family bathroom, before settling down for the night in one of the three bedrooms. There is a ground-floor king-size with patio doors opening up onto the garden and letting in the sea breeze, perfect for guests with lower mobility (not ensuite), and a second king-size and twin room on the first floor, both with homely décor and storage, at the back door, there are facilities for washing off wetsuits and dogs and a hot shower to warm up after a swim. Pen Y Cwm is a short distance from Newgale Beach, a surfing mecca, which boasts a two mile stretch of sandy beach and plenty of space to relax and soak up the sun’s rays. You can try your hand at a variety of water-sports including kayaking, surfing, windsurfing and paddle boarding on offer, the surf shop offers lessons and hire of equipment as well as a café.
For those who have an interest in astronomy, Newgale Beach belongs to Pembrokeshire’s Dark Sky Discovery Sites and is an idyllic spot, perfect for admiring an uninterrupted view of the sky.
Enjoy a magnificent sunset here before indulging in some grub at a local pub or café such as the Victoria Inn Brewhouse in Roch or the Harbour Inn or Cambrian Inn in Solva. St David's is 6 miles away and has a supermarket, range of gift shops and restaurants as well as a Thursday market.
Haverfordwest is 9 miles away and has four large supermarkets, many high street stores and other amenities. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is easily accessible from Ty Rhosyn, allowing guests to enjoy the stunning views and to walk to beautiful beaches in the area, including Porthmynawyd and Newgale.
Head to the beautiful town of Solva, with its traditional lime kilns, picturesque harbour and pretty streets, there is a great selection of tasty eateries, art galleries, and independent stores to be enjoyed.
From here, visit St David’s, the smallest city in Britain with its lovely cathedral, where you can explore the ruins of St David’s Bishop's Palace.
There are numerous, stunning beaches within a short drive including Druidston Haven, Nolton Haven, Whitesands and Broadhaven). Across the road from Ty Rhosyn, there is a path down to Pen Y Cwm cove (which has rock pools and caves) and you can join the coastal path here. It is a fairly steep hill of about 800m. Other inland options include walks around Brandy Brook, Roch and Rhyndaston, the disused St David's airfield, around Llys-y-fran reservoir or the Preseli Hills. Most walks require a short drive. There is also a bus stop on the main road just a couple of minutes’ walk from the house – the Puffin shuttle stops here making it easy to get around.
Make a seaside getaway to remember with a stay at Ty Rhosyn.
