The property
A beautifully presented all-ground-floor property, settled close to the historic ruins of Gellideg Mansion and its surrounding grounds, The Old Carriage Court makes a marvellous base for an escape to west Wales. Sitting near the ancient coastal town of Kidwelly, this property is perfect for the history lover, with the pond in front of the gates once being where the carriages were taken to dampen off their wheels, while the interior of the property offers a contemporary haven for you and your loved ones to relax amidst. Sink into one of the plush sofas before the Smart TV, being sure to light up the woodburning stove in the winter months, before carrying your conversations over to the grand dining table, where you can feast like royalty, all while being surrounded by splendour. The high apex ceilings let in an abundance of natural light, creating a lovely aura at any time of the day, while the outside gravelled courtyard also makes a charming spot to bask beneath the sun. Prepare an evening snack in the amply-equipped kitchen, before heading out to the games room to enjoy an hour or two of table tennis. When it's time to rest, take your pick from five equally elegant bedrooms, choosing from a master super-king-size affording is own en-suite shower room, a second super-king-size, a king-size with an en-suite wet room and two twins, all offering a stunning interior and a flexible sleeping arrangement perfect for those less able. The Old Carriage Court also comes with access to the extensive and outstanding Gellideg Gardens, boasting beautiful views to the distant hills of the Gower peninsula, you can spend a whole day just roaming this landscape on your doorstep. Head into the village of Kidwelly to find your nearest amenities with several pubs and shops, so you can pick up the essentials or treat yourself to a meal out if you want a night off, while the Red Lion in Llandyfaelog is well worth visiting too for some truly delicious meals.
Kidwelly boasts a 12th-century priory church and one of Wales’s best castles, Kidwelly Castle, a preserved Norman-era castle and fortress, so visit for the chance to learn some local history through exhibits and sometimes even costumed events.
Nearby Pembrey Country Park offers an array of outdoor activities, including horse riding, and Cefn Sidan Beach provides the perfect base for family fun or sunbathing.
Venture out to discover the delights of Tenby, hosting even more impressive beaches, a picturesque harbour, and plenty of history awaiting to be discovered on a ghost walk, while those seeking a more challenging ramble should be sure to explore both the Wales Coast Path and Barafundle Bay.
Family-friendly days out can be enjoyed at Folly Farm zoo & adventure park, and the National Botanic Garden of Wales and British Bird of Prey Centre, while other attractions in the area worth visiting include the Gower beaches including Oxwich and Rhossili, (one of top ten in world!), Carreg Cennen Castle in Llandeilo, Aberglasney House and Gardens, and the Llanelli WWT National Wetlands Centre, while Carmarthen and Laugharne boast plenty of wonder too.The Old Carriage Court is the perfect base for your escape to west Wales.
