The property
The Old Lighthouse Cottage is a lovely, reverse-level holiday home resting in the beautiful harbour town of Watchet, in Somerset. Set over three floors, displaying uninterrupted views of the nearby coast and Watchet Harbour, the cottage is near the stunning Quantock Hills AONB, Somerset Steam Railway and Exmoor National Park. The Old Lighthouse has a nautical theme throughout and is the perfect holiday retreat for families and friends alike, sleeping four guests over two floors and accommodating two small furry friends! On arrival at the cottage, park up in the nearby free car park, whilst making your way through the characterful front door and up to the second floor, where you will find the bright and spacious open-plan living space; cook up a storm in the contemporary kitchen, dine with direct views of the scenic backdrop of Watchet Harbour and Marina, as well as the Bristol Channel and distant views of the Welsh Coast, or relax in front of the TV, as the world goes by in the nearby town of Watchet. As the evening sets in, head down the rope-lined staircase to the spacious bedrooms, carrying through beamed ceilings and skirtings, offering a charming place to rest your head and unwind. Watchet itself is rich in history, and has maritime Museums of its past, whilst its newly built East Quay, located on the harbourside, homes a café, art gallery and studios. The lively esplanade supports local markets, street fairs and music events which reflect its diverse culture. Amenities include a vast mixture of small family-run shops, deli, butchers, a pharmacy, delicatessen, hardware, antique, clothes shops, doctors, post office, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Boasting an excellent travel network, a regular bus service runs to both Taunton and Minehead. The Exmoor Coaster open-top tour bus runs from Minehead through the Exmoor National Park, up Porlock Hill to Lynmouth & Lynton, offering spectacular views. Take a stroll alongside the East Lyn River from Lynmouth to the National Trust, Watersmeet House. Avid walkers will also enjoy woodland walks along the East Lyn & Hear Oak rivers. Those who feel energetic will appreciate the breathtaking views from the Valley of the Rocks, near Lynton overlooking the Bristol Channel. Heading to the medieval village of Dunster, its resident castle is worth a visit, featuring a working water mill and a lovely tearoom, while Dunster Marsh Beach is a short car journey away, with stunning views of the surrounding coast. Sitting between two stunning walking areas, the Quantock Hills and Exmoor National Park, routes are also in abundance, including the Mineral Line, trails surrounding Quantocks, and walks around Wimbleball Lake on Exmoor, also offering kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding activities for all the family. Make some great memories in Somerset by staying at The Old Lighthouse Cottage.
