The property

Nestled along the picturesque Somerset Coast is this idyllic three bedroom character terraced house, Sea Spray, West Street, Watchet. Sea Spray Cottage is in a small terrace of former fishermens’ or harbour workers’ cottages and is actually adjoining the sea wall. As a result of this fortunate position it enjoys close proximity to the sea and therefore unparalleled views down the wild coastline, the harbour wall and lighthouse and across to Wales, the sunsets too can be absolutely wonderful. The cottage has been a haven for family and friends for the past 20 years and, having been recently refurbished, provides comfortable and enjoyable accommodation for 4 people. All the usual facilities are provided, as mentioned and well-behaved dogs are welcome. The colourful decking area provides the perfect setting for al fresco meals or an evening glass of wine while enjoying the sounds and sights of the tides, the Bristol Channel has the largest tides in Britain. The property is reached from the street, a very short walk to the centre of Watchet, and private parking is provided. Take advantage of your fabulous location and explore the local town, Watchet Port, full of maritime history and has a modern Marina watched over by a 150 year old light house and a statue of Coleridge’s Ancient Mariner makes an interesting stroll along the quay. Museums for learning, not one but two! The Market House Museum to learn more about the history of the Town, and the Boat Museum has an intriguing collection of local flat bottomed boats and rope making exhibits. The slipway to West Beach is a few yards from the front door, wander along the wild and scenic coastline famous for fossil hunting, ancient ammonite fossils lying on the shore just waiting to be found, a constant source of pleasure to young and old. Visit Pebbles Tavern, where you are spoilt for choice, treat yourself to some delicious local cider. Give yourself a night off from the kitchen, choose an authentic curry at The Spice Merchant, delicious Tapas at The Cats Whisker or more traditional food at The Bell Inn, Watchet will look after you well! Just a short drive away is the superb Tropiquaria Wildlife Park, where you can meet a plethora of wildlife including reptiles and marine life at the aquarium. Walkers and cyclists will delight with the choice of paths, from The South West Coast Path, Coleridge Way, Quantock and Brendon Hills as well as the Exmoor National Park. On the doorstep walking the coast line has extraordinary rock formations with quartz and alabaster running through them, possibly catching sight of the resident Peregrine Falcons. For a unique way to see the sights, why not hop aboard The West Somerset Railway, choose a Steam Locomotive coach and wagons to travel in. The West Somerset Railway is the longest heritage steam railway operating from Bishop’s Lydeard at the base of the Quantock Hills to Minehead on The Bristol Channel Coast. The 20 mile trip with 10 stations recaptures the romantic era of steam rail travel, or peruse the railway and industrial heritage well preserved at each station along the journey. For memories that will last a lifetime, be sure to choose Sea Spray as your base in Watchet.
