Summary
The cottage received high praise for its cleanliness, comfort, and well-equipped facilities. Guests appreciated the cozy atmosphere, thoughtful touches, and the beautiful village surroundings. Some minor issues were noted, like a loud hot water pump and a door mat getting stuck, but these did not detract from overall enjoyment.
The property
A beautifully renovated stone terraced cottage, 3 Old Hall Cottages makes the perfect holiday home for your next Peak District adventure, resting in the quaint village of Monyash, near to Bakewell, this property boasts style and character. Retaining some original features such as timber beams in the ceiling and original sash windows, as well as striking contemporary ones like the woodburning stove and well-chosen interiors, 3 Old Hall Cottages is ideal for two couples or a group of four. Delight in coming back from a ramble and following the pretty path up to the pale green door, admiring the lovely front patio setup here with benches to sit out on. Head straight into the sitting room, straight away giving off a homely aura with the warming woodburning stove set in the fireplace, you can relax here watching the Smart TV, finding a snug spot on the fabulous sofa and chairs. Enjoy evenings amidst your nearest and dearest in the kitchen/diner accompanied by a few bottles of wine, with the beautiful deep navy fitted kitchen with it's quartz worktops making a fine work space for any chef, complete with all the appliances you need for rustling up some delicious food, including an electric oven, induction hob, and fridge/freezer among them. Continue down to the end of the house where a boot room offers the best place to store any coats and shoes, next to a handy cloakroom too with a basin and WC. On sunny days take some drinks and snacks outside, follow the path down past the back of the neighbouring houses and come to your own enclosed garden to delight in, with a good-sized lawn space and a patio with seating, it's the best way to end another memorable day. When you're ready to retire, head upstairs to find your sleeping spot in the form of the lovely king-size bedroom, complete with a Smart TV ideal for lazy mornings in bed, and a stunning en-suite shower room too. Another couple can take the second bedroom where a king-size bed rests, or if friends are sharing then request this zip/link bed to be made into a twin prior to your stay, with a Smart TV in here too. Finally the glowing bathroom is where you can take a moment to relax, soak in the spacious tub or take a shower with the overhead shower, whatever suits you. When you're ready to venture out, take a stroll around the charming village of Monyash, with the cottage opposite the pretty village pond along with a picturesque green too, the village is scattered with old limestone cottages and is actually a stop along the Limestone Way, while to the east is Lathkill Dale. The village is home to a tearoom/restaurant and a pub (closed on Monday), whilst the nearest shops are in the nearby village of Longnor, along with a takeaway and some more pubs, so you have plenty to choose from. Known for its delicious sweet treat of the same name, Bakewell is a must-visit when in this area of the Peak District, perfectly positioned on the banks of the River Wye, you can visit on a Monday to see the bustling outdoor market, take a tour of The Old House Museum found in one of the oldest buildings in Bakewell to learn about the fascinating past of this charming town, and walkers can head to the nearby Monsal Trail for traffic-free walking, cycling or even horse riding. A filming location for the Keira Knightly adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, Chatsworth House, is located just outside Bakewell, and offers a wondrous day out, marvelling at the magnificent architecture and grandeur of this stately home from the 1600s, as well as exploring the huge grounds and the Chatsworth House Labyrinth. With so much to see and do, you can make wonderful memories in the Peak District from 3 Old Hall Cottages.
