Also close by is the excellent Sett Valley Trail, a 2.5-mile recreational bridleway for walkers, cyclists, and horse riders with outstanding views. Little Hayfield, a hamlet near the village of Hayfield has a lovely old traditional pub and is within walking distance of the cottage. Nearby Buxton, Castleton, and Bakewell are all just short drives away, whilst the historic house of Chatsworth is well worth a visit.
