Summary
The property is clean, well-equipped, and in a great location for exploring nearby attractions and dining options. Guests appreciated the thoughtful welcome pack and cozy decor. Some noted road noise and temperature variations during colder nights, as well as some driving access challenges. Overall, a favored choice for families.
The property
Ashbourne 5 miles. Settled into the village of Hulland Ward, near Ashbourne, Valley view is a lovely Peak District getaway for a family or friends. Enter into this lovely eighteenth century cottage and hang up your coats in the cloakroom, before unpacking into this tastefully renovated cottage. Settle down with a good book in the sitting area, where an original inglenook woodburning stove warms your feet from a bare brick fireplace. Pass the quirky bookcase door, which opens up into the under-stairs storage, and reach a beautiful dining room, retaining the original bare brick fireplace and wooden beams, now housing an electric fire stove to give your dining experience a hint of historic ambience. When mealtimes call, find yourself in a lovely spacious kitchen and with the assistance of the home-from-home amenities, cook a heart-warming meal as the handy utility takes care of all of your muddy clothes. As the evening wears on, three tastefully-furnished bedrooms offer a space for you to snuggle up for the night, including a super-king-size zip/link that can be set up as a twin on request, a king size and a ground-floor double serviced by a ground-floor wet room, and there is also a bathroom with the option of a refreshing shower or a soak amongst the bubbles in the free-standing bath. Much of the flooring throughout the ground-floor is laminate, making this property pet-friendly, and there is also the addition of a dog washing station in the outhouse! Pets can also enjoy the enclosed lawn, whilst guests can make the most of the patio, where you can relax in the sunshine with a glass of your favourite beverage. Hulland Ward is a village that rests near the Peak District with a local shop and pub. For more convenience stores, eateries and independent shops, head over to Ashbourne, where there is a selection of antique stores, as well as historic architecture, or there is the option of heading over to Carsington where guests can hire bikes or try out watersports on Carsington Water. There are also the options of the villages of Matlock, Wirksworth and Belper. The Peak District National Park is a must visit for guests, supplying you with a wealth of fantastic walks, including those to Thor’s Cave, the ruins of Throwley Old Hall and Robin Hood’s Stride. Further from the property you can enjoy an action-packed day at Alton Towers or explore the wildlife at Matlock Bath Aquarium and arcade. All of this and more with a stay at Valley View.
