The property

Walking a few steps from the famous Castleton streams you will find Buttercup Cottage, built in 1632, a picture postcard property located in the quintessentially British village of Castleton, in the heart of the Peak District, located on the no through road of Goosehill you couldn’t be better located to explore the surrounding area whilst enjoying peace and quiet, the area is famous for its semi-precious Blue John stone, underground show cave, the ruins of Peveril Castle, and stunning views and walks in all directions. Nestling under the castle and surrounded by stunning countryside, this charming cottage provides outstanding accommodation for up to six guests wishing to spend some time in and around Castleton. Built around 1632, originally 2 cottages, then converted to a larger single dwelling in 1850, it has been recently renovated to retain all its original features including oak-beamed ceilings, open stonework and log fires. On entering the property there is a stone-flagged entrance hall opening to a cosy open-plan living space with a dining table and sitting area with woodburning stove and HiFi. There is a separate main sitting room with an inglenook fireplace displaying a further woodburning stove, TV and DVD/Blu-ray player, perfect for relaxing in after a long day exploring.
The property has a fully equipped kitchen including a dining/breakfast table and a large flat-screened TV. The wide French windows open onto the enclosed patio and tiered garden which has stunning views across the valley and towards Mam Tor.
Upstairs, the cottage sleeps up to 6 guests in two spacious double bedrooms with views overlooking Peveril Castle to the front and the great ridge to the rear. Across the landing is a contemporary family bathroom with a large walk-in rain shower.
The outside has a wonderful enclosed garden with upper and lower patios both equipped with garden furniture, ideal for guests to indulge in some alfresco dining together during the summer, there is an outside tap for those muddy paws, muddy boots and bikes. At the front of the property is a designated parking space opposite the pretty Goosehill Green, perfect for a picnic or for the children to let off some extra holiday energy.
