The property
Maries Cottage is a restored fisherman’s cottage enjoying a sublime setting in the pretty harbour of Craster in Northumberland. Perfect for a family break, the property combines character features with all the home comforts you would expect from a high quality holiday home. The inviting sitting room is incredibly welcoming with a feature beamed ceiling, original sash windows and a traditional inglenook fireplace with inlaid woodburning stove, creating a warming focal point to the room and is somewhere you can imagine curling up together and enjoying each other’s company. The kitchen is fully fitted and comes with everything needed to produce delicious food for the whole family and the adjoining dining room is really stylish and set up ready for guests to gather and indulge in leisurely meals together. The outside courtyard is a delightful, sunny spot to soak up any rays and enjoy eating and drinking alfresco. All that fresh sea air will have tired everyone out, so guests can choose from two elegant bedrooms, a twin and a king-size; both are beautifully presented and give guests the opportunity to recharge their batteries. Make sure you find time for a relaxing soak in the feature slipper bath which adds a real touch of luxury to the accommodation. You’re in a great location at Maries Cottage overlooking the harbour of Craster which boasts some of the best beaches in Northumberland. Just south of Craster is Howick Hall, which was built in 1782 and has associations with the Grey family, including Earl Grey the great social reformer and tea enthusiast. The gardens at Howick Hall are open to the public during the spring and summer and are especially worth a visit during the rhododendron season. A walk along the coastal footpath to the north of Craster brings you to the dramatic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland. A beautiful cottage in a stunning harbourside location, Maries Cottage offers a holiday home-from-home which will delight and inspire guests.
