The Garden Cottage

The Garden Room is a peaceful Northumberland retreat, designed to offer calm and comfort at any time of year. Stepping into the open plan living space, you’re welcomed by a gentle sense of openness and the ease of single level accommodation, ideal for a relaxing getaway.
The sitting area invites you to unwind, with warm wooden flooring, comfortable seating and bookcases filled with reading material for slow, quiet evenings. Underfloor heating and a supplementary electric wood burning stove ensure a cosy atmosphere throughout the winter months.
The well equipped kitchen includes an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher—everything you need for a stress free self catering stay. A dining table looks out over the owner’s beautifully maintained garden, where you can enjoy views of abundant birdlife and tranquil greenery.
A modern bathroom offers both a bath and a separate walk in shower, giving you space to relax and refresh. At the far end of the property, the serene bedroom features a super king size zip/link bed with high quality linens, ensuring a restful night’s sleep.
Step outside with your morning coffee into the private gravelled area and breathe in the calm of open farmland, accompanied by the soothing sound of the River Rede. A short scenic stroll brings you to the village of West Woodburn, home to a shop and a welcoming pub.
Peaceful surroundings and places to explore:
• Northumberland National Park — wide open landscapes, quiet hill walking in the Cheviots, and peaceful routes along Hadrian’s Wall. Excellent for cycling too.
• Kielder Forest Park — famous for its Dark Skies, observatory and exceptional stargazing.
• Bellingham (10 minutes) — local amenities, filling station and EV charging points (with an EV charger also available at the Garden Room).
• Corbridge (20 minutes) — charming cafés, artisan food shops, boutiques and historic St Andrew’s Church.
• Hexham — a wider range of shops, pubs, restaurants and its impressive Abbey.
• Newcastle upon Tyne — culture, history, shopping and vibrant nightlife.
• Northumberland Coast — around an hour away, offering quiet beaches and sweeping sea views.
The Garden Room is perfectly placed for guests seeking a calm rural escape while still being within easy reach of many of the North East’s most loved attractions.
Please note: During winter months, guests are welcome to enjoy short 3/4/5 day breaks (not crossing the Friday check in day).

Shop and pub within 1 mile .Please note: Access is not allowed to the owner's garden via the patio doors . Please note: During winter months short breaks are available, but must not cross over the Friday check-in day. Please note: Weekly bookings are from Friday to Friday; guests may book for less than a full week, provided that their stay does not cross over the Friday, which is the day when the property is prepared for the next letting.
