The property
Settled within the Scottish Borders, on the outskirts of the medieval town of Jedburgh, rests this detached cottage, Broombaulks Farm Bungalow. Enveloped by rolling countryside hills and perched by the owner's farm, this ground-floor cottage makes a wonderful escape for a family of eight and their canine companions. Park up at the foot of the property, where the spacious driveaway allows up to three cars, making unloading the vehicle an easy task. Step through the ruby red door into the entrance hallway, here you can kick off your walking boots, ready for an outdoor adventure and iscover the bright and sunny sitting room, hosting a crackling woodburning stove and two plush sofas to unwind on as you flicker through the TV with Freeview, there is also a collection of DVDs, so why not have a movie marathon? Moving through the property, you will find the fitted kitchen/ diner, with white-washed cupboards and an electric oven and hob to rustle up tasty dishes, and store your favourite bottle of wine in the fridge and there is a washing machine to take care of any spillages! Dine together at the lengthy table, where you can tuck-into hearty meals and catch-up on the highlights of the holiday. After a day exploring the splendour of Scotland, jump in the shower for a refreshing rinse before putting on your pyjamas and finding your bedroom. The cottage hosts four bedrooms, there are three doubles and a single, all with furniture to house your belongings. Awaken with a steaming cup of coffee in the rear garden to soak in the peaceful location, as you ponder the excursions for the day. For a fishing spot with a view, why not spend the afternoon at Upper Hass Loch, the perfect place for a picnic, swimming is not permitted. Pack your hiking gear and ramble the untamed landscape of Shaw Craig, stroll around Whitelee Moor National Nature Reserve and absorb history at Carter Bar Boundary Marker. Take a short drive into the heart of Jedburgh to marvel at the remains of its Abbey, view the 15th century Ferniehirst Castle and learn about the tragedy of the Queen at Mary Queen of Scots' Visitors Centre. Venture a little further afield to the market town of Kelso, where you can walk along the River Tweed, tour an 18th century castle and to fuel your adventure there are a cluster of eateries to choose from.
