The property

Goathland 1.5 miles. A most idyllic, semi-detached stone cottage, set in the tiny hamlet of Green End near Goathland. Ideally placed for exploring the spectacular surrounding scenery and the dramatic coastline, it provides a peaceful haven, where sheep wander freely along the country lanes and on the moorland. With much charm and character, from the stone-flagged entrance hall to the beamed ceilings, this very pretty cottage is an absolute delight. Inside, there is a cosy sitting room, with a roaring open fire to gather around on the cooler evenings and a stripped polished wooden floor. The separate dining room also offers a woodburning stove, while the modern shaker-style kitchen has a Belfast sink and a terracotta floor. There are many original features, including window seats, Suffolk latch doors and cast iron fireplaces. Up the cottage stairs are two pretty bedrooms, both with views over the stunning countryside. Warm and inviting, this property is beautifully and tastefully furnished to the highest of standards, ensuring guests have a wonderful and comfortable stay. A short stroll down to Beck Hole brings you to a few dwellings clustered around the village green, and a small local inn of immense character serving real ales. The area is a walker’s paradise, with an excellent network of public footpaths shared by sheep that wander along with you! Enjoy a walk along the Rail Trail to nearby Goathland, with the Mallyan Spout waterfall and the North York Moors Steam Railway, or follow the beck as it winds its way through the valley to the next village of Grosmont. A short drive brings you to the historic seaside port of Whitby and its long sandy beaches, narrow cobbled streets and majestic abbey perched high on the clifftop, reached by 199 ancient steps. With quaint tea rooms, independent shops and a rich array of restaurants, cafes and renowned fish and chips, it offers something for everyone. This endearing little cottage is surrounded by scenic beauty and whether you want a romantic break or a family holiday, it fits the bill!
