The property

Situated in an elevated position in the bustling town of Whitby in North Yorkshire is this delightful cottage, The Nook. Ideal for a family and their canine companion, this lovely dwelling offers a family-friendly layout along with a charming garden, perfect for sitting out in the warmer evenings. On arrival at the cottage, take the steps up into the courtyard and step into your home-from-home for the trip. The well-equipped kitchen also offers a handy washing machine where you can clean your sandy clothes and beach towels before taking advantage of the electric oven and gas hob to rustle up a tasty meal for your group. From here, move into the living/dining room to dine as a family while you plan your next adventure, and when it is time to relax, sink into the sofa to watch a film on the TV while the log burner warms the space. When sleep calls, head to the bedrooms for some well-earned rest; the ground floor hosts a bunk room which is suited to both adults and children, along with a double with a sleigh bed and a light and airy décor. Climb the stairs to the first floor where you will find the remaining bedroom, another double, with Velux windows letting in an abundance of light and pretty views over the rooftops of Whitby. In the morning, freshen up in the bathroom where you have the choice of a bath or a shower, before stepping through the patio doors to enjoy your morning coffee in the courtyard. Be sure to explore the area while you're staying at The Nook; the dramatic Whitby Abbey towers over the town and is within easy reach of the cottage. The famous 199 Steps are also within easy reach and well worth the climb to reach the glorious and far-reaching views over the area, or perhaps spend a day at the golden sandy beach before stopping for some fish and chips to enjoy back at the cottage. Venturing further afield, the lively town of Scarborough is just a short car journey away and home to another gorgeous beach and plenty of eateries to fuel your excursions. Animal lovers may enjoy a day at the Scarborough Sea Life Centre, a fantastic aquarium which is fun for all ages, while history buffs can spend an afternoon exploring the Rotunda Museum. If you are travelling with younger guests, Flamingo Land Resort is just a scenic drive away and boasts a wealth of rides and activities to keep the little ones entertained. Avid walkers and cyclists will not be left short on this trip, with the North York Moors National Park right on the doorstep, venture out and discover some of the most beautiful landscapes Yorkshire has to offer. Whatever the weather, The Nook makes a wonderful base for a fantastic family-friendly holiday to North Yorkshire.
