Walworth Castle is a magnificent Grade I listed, 12th-century castle, which operates as a wonderful three-star hotel, and from your cottage, you can stroll across to the hotel to treat yourself to a glorious afternoon tea, a bar meal in Farmers' Bar, or push the boat out and sample an exquisite dinner in Hansard's Restaurant and Library Tower. A short drive will take you to Darlington with a selection of restaurants, pubs and shops, as befits a large thriving town. A little further afield, explore the splendid countryside around Richmond and Barnard Castle, enjoying the classic Dales landscape of dry-stone walls, rivers and valleys. This is the perfect walking country for those wanting to explore the upper valleys of Middleton-in-Teesdale, incorporating the well-known Cauldron Snout and the High and Low Force waterfalls.
