Whinstone Cottage is a charming retreat nestled in the heart of the Esk Valley, located on the rail trail between Grosmont and Goathland, within the North York Moors National Park, near Grosmont, North Yorkshire. With a large, enclosed garden this pet-friendly sanctuary is ideal for families or groups of friends looking for a peaceful getaway amidst breath taking natural scenery. With the banks of the Murk Esk at the bottom of the garden, sit back and watch herons, owls and if you’re very lucky, the Kingfishers. Early risers might even catch a glimpse of a family of deer who are residents in this area.
Upon entering Whinstone Cottage, you'll be welcomed by a cosy sitting room, complete with a warming electric stove. Adjacent to this, you'll find the cosy snug, featuring a wood burning stove, offering an additional area for relaxation. The heart of the home is undoubtedly the kitchen/diner, well-equipped for all your culinary needs, where you can gather around the dining table to enjoy home-cooked meals and plan the day's adventures. There is also a downstairs cloakroom for your convenience.
Step outside to discover a delightful outdoor area, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or evening drink and listening to the sound of bird song whilst watching the steam trains go by. Soak up the serene surroundings of the North York Moors National Park. Grosmont is the main hub for the steam trains, only a mile walk away; explore the engine sheds or maybe take a trip on one of the many historic steam trains.
As the day draws to a close, retire to one of the two welcoming bedrooms, comprising a double and a twin, both offering a serene setting to rest after a day of exploration. Serving the bedrooms is a modern traditional bathroom with bath, basin and WC, where you can enjoy a refreshing, or relaxing soak whatever the time of day.
