The property
Knighton 8.4 miles. Tucked away in the countryside and off the beaten track is this rustic, first-floor apartment, The Loft, in Llanbister Road near Knighton. A lovely bolthole on a working farm for exploring Mid Wales and Shropshire, this dog-friendly accommodation is ideal for romantic breaks or young families who love the outdoors. You'll find an off-road parking space on arrival, set in a small enclosed garden area with a picnic bench, where you can savour your morning coffee whilst admiring the rural views. The apartment is set on the first floor of a former dairy. Climb the 13 steps to find yourself among the eaves in a lovingly refurbished space with Velux windows framing idyllic views. You can prepare basic meals in the kitchen/diner, complete with a gas oven and hob, microwave, and fridge/freezer, along with a table seating four guests. The double bedroom has a sitting area for all guests to relax on the sofa by the warmth of the impressive woodburning stove with a farmyard scene engraving, whilst watching the TV. An ideal space for young children, the second bedroom has a 2'4 single bed with a truckle, and access to the bathroom. Here you can freshen up after long walks with a hot bath or rinse off using the hand held shower. There is also a dedicated shower and grooming area to wash off your four-legged friends after a walk. A wonderful base for avid walkers and explorers, The Loft is a peaceful location with acres of common land and local footpaths to explore; close by, you'll find The Greyhound Inn for well-earned drinks. The market town of Knighton is a short drive away where you can stock up at the local convenience store, dine at the traditional pub of Horse & Jockey, or plan a day at Offa's Dyke Centre to embark on the scenic Offa's Dyke Path. Glyndwr's Way is another lovely route to wander and escape the hustle and bustle, whilst the breath-taking Elan Valley is a little further afield. Venture into the Shropshire Hills AONB, known for its charming villages and waterways, including the small town of Clun; explore the ruins of Clun Castle, local history at Clun Town Trust Museum, and the Clunton Coppice Nature Reserve. Presteigne is also nearby, whilst over the Welsh border you'll find Ludlow, home to the fascinating Ludlow Castle which often hosts markets, fayres and concerts. Make The Loft your rustic, homely base on your next rural retreat.
