The property
Sitting on an elevated position with spectacular views, 2 Bwth Mawr is a stone-built, semi-detached cottage overlooking Barmouth, Gwynedd. This pet-friendly cottage is in a sought-after location for sandy beaches, watersports, and Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, making a wonderful base for a couple or friends seeking the great outdoors. After parking in the town, a steep path with 122 steps leads you to 2 Bwth Mawr; the magical views right on your doorstep will be so worth the trek! The cottage dates back to 1758 and you'll find much of its original character inside, although thoughtfully renovated for contemporary guests seeking home comforts. Enter through the stable door into an open-plan living space with an exposed stone wall, white-washed beams, and farmhouse furnishings; set the dining table for three ready to serve a home-cooked supper, thanks to the well-equipped kitchen area with everything you need for a self-catering stay! Pour yourself a glass of wine, and sink into the cushioned armchairs while taking in those panoramic views. However, there's no better place to truly appreciate them than from the front terrace; gaze at the historic Barmouth Bridge, Barmouth Bay, and Eryri (Snowdonia) mountains from the comfort of the outdoor seating, and why not dine alfresco with the sunset? After lazy beach days or watersports, throw your sandy gear into the washing machine and climb the stairs to freshen up in the bathroom, whether that's a hot bubble bath or wash with the hand held shower. Choose between two beautifully appointed double bedrooms, both with window seats, storage space and charming furnishings. There's also access to the terrace from the first floor, so you can start your mornings with a coffee fresh from the coffee machine, as the sun rises over the mountains. Follow the path down into Barmouth to dine out at a selection of restaurants and pubs, including The Last Inn, The Bank Restaurant and The Captain's Table, or stock up at the local convenience store or supermarket if you prefer cooking at home. Pack your towels for swimming or sunbathing along Traeth Abermaw, discover local history at Tŷ Crwn, or embark on a footpath leading to scenic points, such as the popular Panorama Walk, and across Barmouth Bridge. Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park is right on your doorstep, a paradise for walking with paths leading from the rear of the property up the hills, climbing and cycling in idyllic countryside, including Penygader mountain peak, Dolgoch Waterfall, and the ruins of Castell y Bere. Spend the day in the seaside resort of Harlech to visit the impressive Harlech Castle, test your swing at Royal St. David's Golf Club, or relax along Harlech Beach. Dolgellau is also nearby and an excellent stop off on your Eryri (Snowdonia) adventures, with Coed y Brenin Forest Park to the north; the bustling town offers plenty of pubs, shops, and riverside walks. Book your next outdoor adventure at 2 Bwth Mawr for an idyllic base you'll love returning to.
