The surrounding area is peppered with former World War II RAF bases, with an aviation heritage centre at East Kirkby, west of Spilsby and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby. Nearby Horncastle is noted for antiques and bric-a-brac stores, whilst Lincoln is well within reach for a pleasant day out.
