The property

A beautiful, homely stone-built cottage, just off the main street, tucked in the back lanes of Kirkby Lonsdale. Lune Cottage is a wonderful retreat for those wishing to explore both the Yorkshire Dales and the magnificent Lake District, boasting a classic cottage interior, suited to two couples or a group of four. From the pretty stone flagged courtyard, step into the bright and quirky kitchen, with unusual skylights flooding in light over the well-equipped space, it is complete with all you need to rustle up delicious meals during your self-catered stay, including an electric oven, gas hob, fridge and freezer. The bench seating at the dining table offers a social spot to enjoy your meals, or sit with a glass of wine or two before you head out to one of the town's lovely restaurants to dine. Continue into the sitting room, with a fabulous Smart TV to entertain, settle on either the sofa or armchair, admiring the traditional features like the stone fireplace and cottage windows. Follow the steep and narrow cottage stairs up to the first floor, and find a lovely super king-size bedroom, which can be a twin on request with zip/link features, while across the landing is the shared bathroom, with a bath and shower over. Travel another set of stairs to the second floor if you're staying in the second charming king-size bedroom, with this one boasting a beautiful wrought-iron bed frame, beneath the lofty eaves, with pretty views over the streets and beyond. Head into the centre of town via a short stroll and discover some excellent shops and local businesses, from award-winning butchers and delicatessens, to highly-rated eateries and pubs scattered along the bustling streets. For an easy morning stroll, walk through the churchyard and head to Ruskin's View, following the path and coming to a breath-taking panorama of the Lune Valley and Underley Hall, with this famous scene being the inspiration for many wonderful works of art and literature. Don't miss the chance to enjoy the magnificent three-arched Devil's Bridge, now closed to traffic, it presents a unique resting spot for picnics, or a delightful stop on a walk, with the name coming from a deep impression in the stone at the apex of the bridge, referred to as the devil's hand print! Head to nearby Ingleton to enjoy the natural beauty of the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, boasting stunning waterfalls and oak woodland, this four and a half mile route is a fantastic outing. Head into the Yorkshire Dales for an abundance of walking routes and trails, or travel over to the Lake District for a boat trip on Lake Windermere, Wainwright's walks, the Beatrix Potter experience, and so much more.
