A charming single-storey stone cottage, Bank Foot lies in a quiet residential area mid-way between the traditional Lakeland town of Ambleside and picturesque Waterhead on Lake Windermere. Home to a beautifully appointed interior and one bedroom, Bank Foot is ideal for a couple’s romantic retreat, with its own south-facing patio within the exquisite private garden. After parking your car safely in the garage, take three steps down to enter the cottage to be welcomed into the entrance hall where you can leave your outdoor gear before stepping into the spacious and bright living/dining room. Relax in here after an adventurous day outdoors, settling on the pretty, floral sofa beneath the traditional exposed A-frame beams above, watching a film on the TV, or simply enjoying the company of your loved one. Dine together at the charming dining table and chairs in here, set near to the large patio doors overlooking the pretty garden. Discover the beautiful, fitted kitchen with stylish cream units and local Kirkstone flooring, home to all the appliances you need for a self-catered stay, along with a handy washer/dryer. Wind down in the attractive bedroom, admire the wide deep-set window and roomy king-size bed, served by the lovely bathroom, fully tiled and complete with a bath and an overhead shower. At the end of your busy day, sit within the peaceful garden with your favourite drink and watch the sun go down, with the patio being perfect for alfresco dining and drinks. Choose one of the many spectacular walks that are available right from your doorstep to experience some of the most idyllic walks in the Lake District. Tour the area by car or by bus, with excellent local transport links, you’ll be passing by sparkling lakes and driving through dramatic valleys as you discover the National Park’s towns and villages, each with its own unique character. Make the ten-minute walk to Waterhead to enjoy a cruise on the beautiful Lake Windermere or hire your own boat to explore the lake’s secluded bays and dramatic islands. In the opposite direction, you’ll find Ambleside’s bustling town centre where you can browse the shops, enjoy a meal at one of the excellent restaurants, or indulge in an afternoon treat at a café or tearoom before continuing your exploring. From Ambleside, follow the river up to the amazing Stock Ghyll Force, a 70-foot waterfall with a fantastic viewing bridge, continuing for a more energetic ramble up Wansfell Pike for more breath-taking views. The lovely Stagshaw Garden is worth a visit for its beautiful woodland garden with walking paths through the trees, shrubs and flowers, whilst some amazing history is to be discovered at Ambleside Roman Fort, with ruins dating back to the 2nd century. The Lakes cruises can be caught from Waterhead, taking you to all the popular lakes destinations like Bowness-on-Windermere, Windermere and Lakeside, with a host of attractions scattered throughout each place.
