The property

Find an ideal holiday base all-year-round at October Cottage, a beautifully renovated, stone-built cottage located right in the hustle and bustle of Middleton-in-Teesdale town centre, with the North Pennines AONB in sight. Stroll along the charming town high street and into a welcoming abode, kicking off your walking boots and snuggling up in front of the woodburning stove as the auburn flames warm you up, ideal for a frosty winter's night in front of the TV. Let the chef of the group take charge of the cooking in the spacious kitchen/diner, a quaint room with fantastic amenities to suit all your dining needs, as well as a gorgeous wooden dining table where family meals can be enjoyed. From here, access the enclosed garden, boasting a large verdant lawn up several steps from a lovely patio area with seating, a lovely location to tuck into alfresco dining on a warm day, or to sip on a hot mug of morning coffee. Make your way upstairs to choose between one of three stunning bedrooms, all featuring their own TV for a lazy morning or late night movie, ample storage and pretty décor. Prepare for a day of adventure in the crisp white bathroom, boasting a sumptuous freestanding bath for a relaxing soak, as well as a separate large walk-in shower! Step out of the cottage and into the atmospheric Pennine town of Middleton-in-Teesdale, filled with charming boutique shops, an independent coffee shop, and several eateries including a restaurant, a fish and chip shop and a charming café. The town is in the perfect location to explore the North Pennines AONB, following the flowing River Tees over to cascading water features including High Force Waterfall, Gibson's Cave, Cauldron Snout and Low Force Waterfall, surrounded by an enchanting leafy forest for adventurous rambles. Walkers who enjoy a challenge will love the wealth of rugged peaks, tall fells, and lush moorlands, hike, stroll or cycle up your choice of High Cup Nick, Hilton Fell, Mickle Fell, or Fendrith Hill. Spend a day exploring the lively market town of Barnard Castle, roaming around a host of historical attractions including a 12th century castle offering breath-taking views over the Tess Gorge, as well as an even wider selection of highstreet shopping, antique stores, country pubs and fine dining, as well as the fantastic Bowes Museum and The Witham Arts Centre where you can catch a range of shows from theatre, festivals, music, comedy shows and films!
