The small village of Burton-in-Kendal offers a village post office a convenience store and an all-in-one pub and restaurant where you can enjoy a tasty meal if you fancy a night off cooking. A number of delightful walks and cycle routes can be found from the door, whilst the nearby medieval Devil's Bridge at Kirkby Lonsdale and the Lune Valley, a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, are well worth a visit. Venture into the Lake District National Park and explore the many charming towns and villages; spend an afternoon in Ambleside, browsing the quirky shops and attractions before enjoying a relaxing cruise across Lake Windermere, offering a different way to admire the Lakeland’s beauty, or visit the popular town of Bowness where you can learn about the fascinating life of Beatrix Potter.
