Summary
The property offers a comfortable stay with a well-equipped kitchen, commodious beds, and a good location near town. However, access may be challenging for those with mobility issues, and water pressure is inadequate. Parking can be tight for larger vehicles. Overall, it's considered adequate but basic.
The property
Nestled within mature woodland on the outskirts of the coastal town of Clifden, County Galway, is this idyllic single-storey cottage, Rainbows End. Within easy reach of Connemara National Park, Rainbows End is the perfect base for a family or a group of friends looking to explore the delights of this picturesque region. A large driveway with ample off-road parking greets you upon arrival at the property, leading you up an external staircase to an elevated position amongst the woodland. Kick off your boots and step over the threshold and into the hallway, continuing through to the beautifully appointed open-plan kitchen/diner, featuring a bright and airy décor with timber flooring and natural lighting invited in through the patio doors. The stylishly designed kitchen is amply-equipped with all of the necessities to prepare an array of tasty treats that the group will be delighted to gather around the dining table to indulge in. If you're lucky enough to get the warmer weather, head out to the patio to enjoy a tranquil glass of wine in a picturesque woodland setting, or step outside before the rest of the group rises in the morning to enjoy a peaceful cup of coffee. Head back inside and retire to the homely sitting room for the evening, where you can snuggle in on the sofa in front of the open fire and let the television do the entertaining. After an action packed day, make use of the handy utility and load the washer/dryer to refresh your wardrobe ready for your next adventure. As the day draws to a close, head off to bed where you have choice between three brightly decorated bedrooms, a twin bedroom and two double bedrooms, one benefitting from an en-suite shower room and the other featuring patio doors leading out to a private outdoor space, perfect for an intimate escape with your significant other. The bedrooms are serviced by a contemporary family bathroom boasting a bath as well as a walk-in shower cubicle, so you can choose to relax in the bubbles or prepare for bed with a quick rinse. Take a break from doing the cooking and head into the center of Clifden and indulge in a meal at one of the many eateries that the town boasts, followed by a traditional pint of Guinness and a spot of entertainment at Lowry’s Bar, known as the home of Irish Music in Clifden. Tackle the climb to the top of the hill overlooking Clifden to reach the John D'Arcy Monument memorial, dedicated to the founder of the town and offering breathtaking views across the rooftops. History buffs will be delighted with a visit to The Station House Museum to discover the towns local heritage. Head further afield to explore the picturesque landscape of Connemara National Park, home to over 7000 acres of woodland, bogs and heaths and offering scenic walking trails including the famous Twelve Bens, a mountain range set within the National Park including many of the highest mountains in the West of Ireland. For a more relaxed experience, head to Mannin Bay Blueway for a tranquil escape to the beach, home to the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic. For an unforgettable escape to explore the beautiful region of Galway, choose Rainbows End.
