Just a couple of minutes’ walk away is the centre of Stow-on-the-Wold, with its vast Market Square with an ancient cross, town stocks and an elegant array of town houses, unique shops, tea rooms and traditional pubs. Time your visit right to attend one of the many events held within the town, including Gypsy Horse Fairs (dating back to 1476), craft fairs and monthly farmers’ markets The Horse Fairs are held on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October Stow is busy on these days and for and day or two before and after; some shops, pubs and restaurants will be closed. A few minutes away by car is a selection of the Cotswolds’ unspoilt towns and villages, including Moreton-in-Marsh, Broadway, Chipping Campden and Chipping Norton, along with the gardens of Hidcote Manor and Kiftsgate and much else.
