Summary

The accommodation exceeded expectations with excellent views, spacious and modern facilities. Owners were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The location was ideal, a short walk to Porthleven, although some found the return uphill challenging. Overall, a great place to relax and explore.

The property

A stylish and contemporary cottage, Pen Chy, newly built in 2020, is a reverse-level property enjoying a fantastic position on the Cornish coast in the village of Porthleven. Sleeping up to four guests, Pen Chy has a spacious and light interior, and is within easy reach of many popular Cornish towns, villages and attractions. On the first floor, discover an amazing living space, receiving an abundance of natural light from the many windows, and using a mix of neutral colours and rich wood furnishings to create a natural yet contemporary style. The kitchen is fully fitted with integrated appliances so you can cook up your family favourites on the induction hob, while the dining area presents a great space to gather together at the end of the day, in the winter months being warmed by the woodburning stove. Choose to spend the evening winding down with a film playing on the wall-mounted Smart TV, or make use of the superb slate balcony accessed from French doors from the sitting area, you can enjoy a Cornish sunset while sipping a glass of wine. Retire to your bedroom on the ground-floor, choosing from either the king-size bedroom, with an oak bed frame and furniture and an en-suite shower room, or the twin bedroom with shared bathroom, home to a beautifully fitted bath and walk-in shower. Porthleven Beach has three miles of golden sands, with waters offering experienced surfers some strong undercurrents and surf to play with, and when the tide is out you can stroll along the beach all the way to Loe Bar. A walkers heaven, the Penrose Estate can be joined from Loe Bar and offers a variety of walking routes through to Helston and along the coast. Explore the coastal footpaths towards the Lizard Point, England's most southerly point with spectacular coastal views of the scenic cliffs, and while in the area see the Bolenoew Animal Sanctuary where you can befriend the resident horses, donkeys and other farm animals. Embark on a kayaking or paddleboarding tour with Vertical Blue Adventures, based in Porthleven, you can receive expert tuition before heading onto the water to see the spectacular coastline up close. Other attractions within reach include St Michael's Mount in Marazion, The Minack Theatre in Porthcurno, and the pretty harbour town of Penzance.
