With its sandy Blue Flag award winning beach on the north coast of Cornwall, Porthtowan is renowned for its surf, sunbathing, rock pools and caves to explore, and is ideal for families with children; Porthtowan village, next to the beach, has an excellent village shop/post office, a popular bistro bar and a range of seasonal shops (including local ice cream). Make your way to St Agnes, a large village, and bask in the sun on Trevaunance Cove, venture across Blue Hills tin and explore the quaint Little Orchard Village. The South-West Coast Path, only a couple of minutes from the front door, skirts over the cliffs heading north past Chapel Porth cove, set against an iconic backdrop of historic mine workings and buildings, towards Newquay and south to Portreath, with its lovely harbour and beach, then onwards to St Ives. Hillcrest provides an excellent base to explore many of Cornwall's attractions including: The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, St Michael's Mount, St Ives's Tate Gallery and many more.
