The property is well-equipped and ideally located near beaches and amenities, with spacious rooms and beautiful views. However, cleanliness was lacking upon arrival, and there were issues with furniture and drainage smells. Suggestions include adding a hairdryer, better window latches, and improving acoustics.

The property

Rosudgion 1 miles. The Granary is a characterful, granite home resting in the seaside village of Prussia Cove, near Rosudgeon. With a tranquil coastal location offering close by amenities, this abode is ideal for friends and families looking for a getaway to Cornwall. This three-bedroom bolthole nestled in a courtyard setting and sleeps up to six guests seeking a country escape not far from glorious beaches. Superbly presented, enter into the hallway, where reverse-level accommodation boasts stairs that take you to the first-floor living space. The generous open-plan area makes for social gatherings all under the vaulted beamed ceiling with sofas for relaxation, a woodburning stove for toastier times, a large table for dining and a smart fully equipped kitchen, with all you need to rustle up a bite to eat. The first-floor elevation takes advantage of the country and distant sea views.

On the ground floor there are two twin rooms, and the master king-size has an en-suite bathroom with free standing bath for a luxurious soak, plus a dressing room. There is a separate shower room to enjoy a refreshing wake-up to prepare you for the day. The boot room at the rear is a space for coats and shoes, leading out to the large garden, with lawn, patio area, garden furniture for those sunshine nibbles and a built-in barbecue.

Set against a country backdrop with distant ocean views, this property is a tranquil haven. Other local beaches include Piskies, a lovely sandy cove, the next one to the west of Prussia Cove, and Kennegy beach, a long sandy beach which is very quiet and unique but can only be reached when the tide is out via a walk over the rocks.

As well as the Packet at the top of the road, the Victoria Inn in Perranruthoe is recommended for drinks and great food. It can be reached within 20 minutes by walking along the public footpath at the top of the hill just opposite Higher Rosudgeon Farm. Perranruthnoe also has a great beach, pizza restaurant, cafes, and a Chinese restaurant. Also recommended is the Fish and Chip shop at the top of the road.
A 10 minute walk or short drive takes you to Prussia Cove, a sheltered and rugged little beach at low tide with rockpools for exploration. Prussia Cove is a historic smuggling cove once frequented by the notorious Carter brothers, who ran a highly successful smuggling operation from the cove in the late 18th century. John Carter, known as the ‘King of Prussia’ was a devout Methodist and had a reputation as a smuggler with integrity, some considered him a highly successful businessman and others thought him more like a Robin Hood type character who helped the local community. Those who visit Prussia Cove can still see the worn down tracks which show where the smuggled goods were transported from boats to the land via heavy wheeled trollies. Bessy’s beach is close to the cove and is named after Bessey Bussow, who kept an alehouse there. Perranuthnoe, on the east side of Marazion has a beach café. Marazion boast a 4 mile stretch of golden sand, water sports and swimming, and St Michaels Mount. Walk across the cobbled causeway at low tide to this majestic semi-isle with castle atop. The ferry boat will get you there and back at high tide. There are good restaurants and eateries in Marazion, with galleries to browse. Head to Penzance, with shops, bustling marina and Promenade. Praa Sands with its golden sandy beach and Porthleven are worthy destinations, heading towards the Lizard. Porthleven is a pretty harbour village, a foodie haven with excellent eateries. Ramble the coastal footpath, the circular walk to Rinsey Head is scenic. National Trust Lizard Point is the most southerly point, where dolphins, seals and basking sharks may be spied on a beautiful coastal walk.
